Thinking about France made me look at some of my old photos, this is a hotel that my Aunt owned in the town of Checy, it was called L'hotel du Midi , I probably could write a book about it, a lot of Family history happened there, weddings, religious events, births and funerals the family would gathered at the hotel after, I have just about every relatives photos in front of this old hotel even during World War two as well , the name is changed now, but the memories live on .
This was from a photo I took about 4 years ago now called Bar de la Diligence .

I has been a long time since I posted something on The French series , it's because I have been so busy with other projects , it seems like I don't have enough time in a day to do all the things I want to paint and do . I also need to go visit my relatives soon and get inspired by new scenes there . This scene was very familiar to me and a very nice neighbors of my late mother .

I don't often post portraits of people , it's not something I am very comfortable with , I painted this because it was a old man sitting at a French cafe thinking , you see so many of these man sitting in front of their glass of wine just thinking ! and do not seem to worry about the rest of the world .

A scene where a mom is taking her children to school and run ahead of her , I remember those days and you are calling them while they ignore you !
I started just to paint this house with a wonderful shadow,but I was thinking I need life in this village in France.
All my French scene are from actual places using some artistic license .
French country is very much in style now for many decors.

Just another very country scene in France ,where the ladies go to the fresh market to get the vegetables and bread every morning ,this was a Spring day as you see the clematis flowers on the fence . I use to drive by this house all the time on my way to the village of Chabris .

I love blue shutters on a house , actually my house has them now !
This watercolor is a house in France in a small town of Nibelle ,where many of my relatives live , an area where I used to spend my summer vacations when I was growing up.
Can you tell I love to paint architecture , even as a young child , I would draw houses on everything .
This is a lovely watercolor and would make a nice addition to someones collection.

I painted this watercolor on location few years ago , while I was visiting my mother who lived down the road from this farm , I could walk from their back garden and chat with the farmers while I was painting ,they were always concerned about her because she lived alone and she was approaching 100 at the time . French people always have nice gardens and they are very proud of them.
I miss not going there ,I was going there twice a year , I am due for a trip there soon ! I f you love France , this is a true French original painting painted on location . email me if you are interested

Small village in the Sologne region , I Always liked this village ,I think it was the name ,because it was my father's name Julien . The Cher river run through, a beautiful river where people relax and fish from it, lots of small farms who mostly raise goats, the area is famous for their goat cheese .Email me if you are interested in a painting of France .

From my French series ,this was a small path on a walk i used to take when visiting my mother in the Sologne region, I was always sure to meet someone from the village who was taking their daily walks , it was really peaceful ! I miss my visits their , two years have passed , the time goes so fast !

I painted this for a show I had last year , called the back roads of France , as you see I love architecture , I always look for that special house , it can be in Maine ,NH, Massachusetts, South Carolina , Maryland, Ireland or France , I am always very attracted to all different architecture of the world . This is also why I live in the cutest house in Town , a Gingerbread house !

I am working on two different blogs , wanted to keep all my French scenes together .

A quint village in the Sologne region, where not much is happening , still close enough to have Parisians use it for summer residence , some are only two room antique houses, ou "une petite maison ancienne "" maison de campagne ", Parisians don't stay in the city when not working . When I was painting this one , I was thinking , spring scene with the light bouncing on the building.

When I was home last year visiting my nephew , it had snowed the night before and we woke up to a beautiful landscape of fresh snow, it had been years since I had been in France in the winter , I always make my trips in Spring or fall , it's not an area where it does snow very much , when I was a child , I think I missed school ounce due to 2 inches of snow , living in New England I have learned what snow is , like today we have 17 inches in two days .
